The breaking points

As a fellow business owner/ entrepreneur, I’m sure you have had your fair share of dealing with breaking points.

Entering into a new start-up is exciting…at first.

But the honeymoon is short-lived at best, that much I can assure you!

The realities of owning your own business will set in at the end of the day;

business is really about solving problems – lots of them…

And overcoming obstacles, dealing with setbacks and keeping your business on track.

There’s a reason most business fail; most people who start them can’t overcome their breaking points and simply quit or give up on themselves and their dream.

The bottom line is if it doesn’t kill you, it will only strengthen you.

Your greatest successes in life are built on your failures

They’re intended to enlighten you, not blind you;

they’re intended to educate you, not ridicule you;

they’re intended to strengthen you, not break you.

Normal people are adverse to ridicule, looking foolish and failing – therefore never go after their crazy dreams!

This blog post is not directed at normal people; I prefer the crazy’s :)

Are you seeing clearly?

Stop looking at things that didn’t work out as you planned (crashed and burned) as failure, and start to see them as what they really are…

The very building blocks of your future success.

Rather than beat yourself up and quit, take your new found knowledge and experience and implement them into the pursuit of your vision.

Don’t give up on them.

They’re there for a reason, hint: it’s your destiny if you never give up on your vision!

Do you have what it takes?

It’s important to realize you’re more capable and powerful this moment, than at any other point of your life.

Experience and time on the planet only give you more knowledge, understanding and power to live it as you imagine it.

Use all of the experience you’ve gained to build your vision.

In closing, just to be frank – Everything you see around you – parks, buildings, businesses, everything that exists in your city, state, country… the world, are a direct result of;

the foolish dreams of entrepreneurs…

They have built everything you see including the computer screen your looking at right now.

Are you building on your past failures or are have they crushed your vision? I would love to hear from you in the comments :)

    Wow, Mark! I came from a link on Stan’s blog this morning. What a timely post for me. I love this line:

    “Everything you see around you – parks, buildings, businesses, everything that exists in your city, state, country… the world, are a direct result of… foolish entrepreneurs.”

    That awful, gut-wrenching, nerve-wracking feeling of vulnerability is something I’ve seen pop up every time I create, perform, or join in or start a conversation. And it never goes away. I’ve learned to understand what it’s saying, and will borrow a paraphrased quote I laughed about with my friends the other day:

    “Be the kind of woman that when your feet hit the floor each morning the devil says, ‘Crap! She’s up!’”

    So, I have the starting handled. The “breaking point” is another monster. I’m learning to be careful to match my goals to my life purpose so that I always have the question, “Why are you doing this? to fall back on when I’m bored, discouraged, or unsure. That helps a lot. I didn’t have that when I was younger.

      I love your borrowed paraphrased quote, Betsy!

      Mindset is key every morning before we hit the ground running and if you wake up slapping that devil silly, its a good thing!

      Mindset. This also infer’s that you’re taking a stand on God’s word and doing some battle today. I like that.

      Being aware is so key. So many folks wake up just to see where the wind blows them – anywhere will do. Having no goals or direction in life is easy, compared to having a purpose.

      At this point, you’ve just challenged the devil and all of his minions to a fight… Not one unto the death – but unto life : )

      With the right mindset you will not only win the battle, but you will create a life more abundantly for yourself and every life you come into contact with.

      It’s an important part of your life’s purpose too, because it keeps the world balanced and on it’s axis :o

      I bet you didn’t know you were having that much impact in the world..!

      This understanding should help you withstand and overcome your breaking points, provide answers for the ‘why’ and dispel any boredom, discouragement or unsureness that tries to poke their ugly heads up! :)

      Thanks so much for adding to the conversation here today, Bettsy – I appreciate it, miss : )

    Hey Mark,

    This is exactly the type of posts I love to read. I have been running my business for a while now, and I have made many mistakes. And, like you said, they’ve all strengthen me. But, the problem with making mistakes as a solo entrepreneur is that mistakes costs a lot of money, and it’s hard to make mistakes that costs money when you have very little money :)

    On the other hand, I’m looking at my business as a long term business, and doing the mistakes is something that is happening right here and now, but I won’t do the same mistakes twice :)

      Hi Jens, you can’t avoid making mistakes in business.

      A business degree does not qualify you to run a business.

      Only real world experience does – and that will include learning by doing, which will sometimes lead to mistakes that cost you money.

      It’s actually a good thing when it costs you something; you don’t tend to make the same mistakes twice ; )

      Happy Sunday, Jens!

    Hi Mark

    My blog’s only been going since May so I’m still trying things out to see what works and what doesn’t, building up a list for my newsletter etc.

    I don’t think I would say I’m particularly normal. Maybe not quite crazy yet though. :-)

    • http://markharai.com/ Mark Harai

      You can always tell by look in a man’s eyes… You’re definitely crazy!

      You fit right in, Tim : )

      I think Bill Dorman is about the craziest in the community – HAHA!

    Kind of like golf, huh? Always overcoming obstacles and challenges; how you handle them has an impact on your chances of success.

    It can be hard to put yourself out there subject to ridicule and second guessing, especially from the ones who you’d think would support you. It’s ok to get uncomfortable though; in fact, I would recommend it if you want to grow and succeed.

    • http://markharai.com/ Mark Harai

      I don’t think any great accomplishments in history were done so in comfort :o

      Thanks for stopping by, Bill : )
